A supremely wonderful adventure game with some dark subject matter. Though it has some faults, they are very small and don't really detract from the great story. Get this if you love a good mystery adventure.

Combining tried and true adventure game elements with a top down viewpoint more common to action-based RPGs, Meridian4’s latest release, Daemonica, is a nicely unsettling way to spend a gloomy weekend. A medieval murder mystery with a rich supernatural undercurrent, the game does a great job in introducing Nicholas Farepoynt to adventure fans as a character worth watching.

It's great to see a horror-themed game that goes more for the cerebral end of the spectrum rather than straight the jugular, but there are a few moments where you might not want to step into a darkened area or find out what’s happened to a character you’ve befriended. Adventure fans in the market for a darker, demonic twist to their favorite genre will be pleased as punch meet Nicholas and guide him to his destiny. Hmmm... I wonder how you say Buy this game in Daemonica?

With a total of five chapters, the story is probably one of Daemonica's strongest aspects. The game offers plenty of dialog, enough things to do and even throws a few more dead bodies your way down the road. Overall, Daemonica is a good game that should offer fans of adventure games a solid story and enough to do to keep them occupied for a good number of hours. If you're out of adventure games, Daemonica is a safe bet.

Daemonica is best described as an interactive gothic murder mystery. Fans of point and click adventure games or players looking for a more relaxing game with an engaging story would do well to check it out. You can buy the game in stores or download it directly. A free demo is also offered.

There is something about low-budget games that makes me tingle inside. It's probably because usually the creativity involved in such a game makes up for their lack of good graphics. Daemonica holds its ground when compared to the big name adventure games of today, but is it worth the price of admission? Daemonica is what Coney Island is to Six Flags; not as amazing, but still great.

From the moment I doubled clicked the Daemonica icon installed on my desktop, I was pretty much hooked. The short opening scene, the storm and the graveyard, the apparent darkness in the upcoming tale, the images on the load screen; these were all things designed to be immediately appealing to me. Daemonica isn't perfect but it certainly made me want to play, which is a lot of what you want from a game.

Daemonica is overall a creepy mystery and adventure game that is easy to play but difficult to solve. It will have you doing some very bad things, all in the name of good. This revival of old school adventure gaming earns 4 out of 5 GiN Gems for being delightful and spooky at the same time.

By the time your half way through you will be hard drawn to put your mouse away. Daemonica has enough content to keep you wanting more and a slightly different feel to your usual adventure story with its twists and potions to give it that little edge on the normal run of the mill titles and succeeds in being a satisfying game for a budget price.

Daemonica weaves a very engaging story with deep character development and added features that many RPG games lack. The mystery, adventure, and intrigue all combine into a very satisfying experience. Hey, you might even learn about the demonic words that spawned the earth, raised mountains, cut streams, and gave the birds their voices, but be sure use them sparingly...

Daemonica is a very playable game and is certainly recommended for adventure fans and those that are looking for something a little different…The game plays out like part CSI, part Diablo and part Gauntlet with several essences thrown in from classic point-and-click adventure style games.

The graphic adventure genre, or at least puzzle- and inventory-related adventure games, were in peril a few years ago. Thankfully, that seems to have changed. The traditional point-and-click adventure of the Sierra/Lucasarts era has been replaced with more innovative titles that tend to pull from other genres. Such is the case with Daemonica – billed as an action-adventure, but with obvious ties to the traditional graphic-adventure model. Graphic adventure fans, and anyone looking for a creepy, enjoyable game will not have to look much further than Daemonica.

As with most adventure titles, replaying the game is more of an exercise of repetition than anything else. However, in this quiet period at the beginning of the year, gamers looking for some passive entertainment may find Daemonica to be enjoyable. There are a few neat ideas in the game that make it a cut above the rest.

This is a moody game, both in ambience and in the eloquent text; it is much like reading a gothic horror novel. Most of the dialogue in the game is presented as text, but fortunately it is well written. Aficionados of the old text games will probably be happy with this…

Daemonica is a strong adventure game, using a unique engine for an adventure game. The story line is good enough to keep adventure gamers interested, and it's definitely a breath of fresh air in a genre that is practically dying in our midst. The game is definitely worth checking out though, especially if you're a fan of the adventure genre.

Overall Daemonica is a decent little game with an interesting and unique storyline, as long as you don't mind the slow pace and excessive amount of required reading. It won't appeal to the gaming masses, but if you're an adventure aficionado you'll appreciate the game's unique qualities and storyline. It's taken a guy who speaks to the dead to breathe some life into adventure gaming.

I admire the literary (if not the technical) ambitions of Daemonica. There's a good story to be told here, even if the package is a bit rough around the edges. And while the gameplay is somewhat static, you could really say the same thing about Myst. But for the player with the patience to explore a rich story and meet lots of shady characters, Daemonica can be a dark, creepy pleasure.

Daemonica is a simple, fresh breath of air in a dying genre, all for a more budgeted price. Considering the budget the game had for it's production and the cost of only $30, you certainly get what you pay for. Daemonica does have a lot of heart to it. It's not a cheap knock off and it's not the best game by any means, but it's certainly a nice little diversion for the hardcore adventure enthusiast.

… this is quite an enjoyable diversion from the majority of profuse rubbish which currently litters mainstream gaming. It does have some of those old adventure game standbys, but adds enough intriguing original elements to stand out. At its core is a great story and a mysterious starring character, and it features enough decent and logical puzzles to please picky traditionalists. It's definitely worth a look for adventure game fans and anyone that appreciates a good, creepy story. We like Daemonica for its refreshing variations on tired themes, and a sincere attempt to introduce a nifty potion-mixing element into its chilling story, it's a solid addition to a game genre sorely in need of modern ideas.

It spans over a couple of different genres and attempts to encompass the best of the mystery/adventure elements and manages to give it all a highly intriguing supernatural twist. GameVortex
It definitely does not fit the standard look of most adventure titles. Instead, this game presents the fixed, three-quarter view found in many older RPGs, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The graphics are good, and everything from the rain to the towns and characters give enough life to the game to make it believable. Daemonica has a lot of promise as an adventure and RPG blend.

Daemonica touts itself as a "3D interactive murder mystery", and despite its surface similarities to RPGs, a murder mystery is exactly what it is. Rather than serving only as a backdrop for action-oriented gameplay, the story is the heart and soul of Daemonica — its heart in the land of the living where the murders are committed, and its soul during your many forays to the afterlife in search of the victims. One thing at least can be said for certain at this stage: Daemonica dares to be different and deserves your attention. It won't be everyone's cup of soulgreep, but its occult premise, dark atmosphere, and unique presentation make this intriguing murder mystery well worth a closer look for adventure fans.

Interesting characters, original puzzle variations, and great text localization round out an intriguing storyline. Much like Veil of Darkness, Daemonica has a very dark ambiance to it, though thankfully for some reason any game that opens with a murder seems to do well (see also: Ultima VII: The Black Gate and Indigo Prophecy).

The game blends a solid storyline and familiar point and click gameplay with an isometric 3D viewpoint similar to a Snowblind or Infinity Engine game, making for an overall impressive mix of styles. With its "CSI: Medieval" meets "The Exorcist" stylings, this is one game that should find a nice home in adventure fans' hearts. Overall, we're quite impressed at how well Daemonica manages to capture the perfect blend of horror themes and investigative work that's key to a solid game. All the game needs now is some great English voice actors and adventure fans will soon have a new obsession when the game ships this spring.
